Regular Season Round 19: Sokhumi - Olimpi 90-76

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#5) and Olimpi (#7). Sokhumi (8-11) won against visiting Olimpi (5-13) 90-76. The game without a history. Sokhumi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Sokhumi players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Oleksandr Tishchenko (205-89) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Sokhumi's coach Nugzar Cheishvili allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Tre Burnette (196, college: S.Dakota) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Revaz Rogava (191-93) added 18 points respectively for Olimpi in the defeat. Four Olimpi players scored in double figures. Sokhumi moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cactus Tbilisi. Olimpi at the other side keeps the seventh position with 13 games lost. Sokhumi will play against Batumi (#6) at home in the next round. Olimpi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Cactus Tbilisi.
