Regular Season Round 19: Cactus Tbilisi - Dinamo Tbilisi 67-92
Date: March 2, 2017
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Dinamo Tbilisi (#1) and Cactus Tbilisi (#4). Cactus Tbilisi was crushed at home by 25 points 67-92 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cactus Tbilisi. The game was mostly controlled by Dinamo Tbilisi. Cactus Tbilisi managed to win third quarter 23-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dinamo Tbilisi dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Cactus Tbilisi's 38. Dinamo Tbilisi forced 19 Cactus Tbilisi turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Nodar Gogodze (191-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. Center Ilia Londaridze (205-89) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American center John Florveus (211-90, college: Georgia) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Terik Bridgeman (198, college: William Pater.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dinamo Tbilisi maintains first place with 18-1 record. Cactus Tbilisi at the other side keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Sokhumi. Dinamo Tbilisi are looking forward to face Energy Invest (#3) in Rustavi in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cactus Tbilisi's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Olimpi.
