The game in Patras was also quite interesting. Third ranked AEK Athens (16-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Promitheas (8-12). AEK Athens did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 86-67 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Promitheas. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-67. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Kostas Vasiliadis (200-84) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five AEK Athens players scored in double figures. Bosnian-Serbian power forward Miroslav Todic (205-85, agency: Diamond Sports) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Jerel Blassingame (175-81, college: UNLV) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AEK Athens maintains third position with 16-4 record having just three points less than leader Olympiacos. Newly promoted Promitheas keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Trikalla. AEK Athens' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Olympiacos.
