Regular Season Round 22: Leiden - Groningen 57-74

The game between Top Four teams took place in Leiden. 3rd ranked host Leiden (14-8) lost to first ranked Groningen (21-1) 74-57. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Leiden managed to win second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Leiden 44-24 including a 36-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Chase Fieler (203-92, college: FGCU) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Arvin Slagter (191-85, agency: Court Side) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Groningen's coach Erik Braal used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Daviyon Draper (201-94, college: FIU) responded with 17 points and international forward Mohamed Kherrazi (200-90) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Four Leiden players scored in double figures. Groningen have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 21-1 record. Leiden at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. Groningen are looking forward to face Den Bosch (#4) on the road in the next round. Leiden will play against Weert and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
