Regular Season Round 24: Alvik Basket - Mark 89-68

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Stockholm. Third ranked Alvik Basket faced one of their biggest challengers Mark. Host Alvik Basket (15-10) smashed guests from Kinna (12-13) 89-68. The game was mostly controlled by Alvik Basket. Mark was better in fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alvik Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mark's 28. They outrebounded Mark 55-26 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Alvik Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Mark's players. It was a good game for American forward Dyana Pierre (185-93, college: S.Illinois) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import Empress Davenport (170-94, college: Texas) contributed with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Alvik Basket players scored in double figures. International center Elin Ljunggren (185-96) replied with 30 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and American guard Tiasha Gray (170-94, college: Austin Peay St.) added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Mark. Alvik Basket maintains third position with 15-10 record having ten points less than leader Udominate. Mark at the other side keeps the fourth place with 13 games lost. Alvik Basket will play against league's leader Udominate in Umea in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mark will play at home against KFUM Ostersund and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
