Regular Season Round 43: Fukushima - Toyotsu FE 104-101

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Toyotsu FE (30-11) on the court of second ranked Fukushima on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Fukushima 104-101. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Toyotsu FE. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Fukushima made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Fukushima looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Point guard Shinya Murakami (172-91) helped adding 22 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Nigerian center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks and American forward Rodney Carney (201-84, college: Memphis) scored 28 points and 8 rebounds. Four Fukushima and five Toyotsu FE players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fukushima maintains second place with 25-16 record having five points less than leader Gunma. Toyotsu FE at the other side still keeps top position with 11 games lost. Fukushima are again looking forward to face league's leader Toyotsu FE in Nagoya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toyotsu FE will have a break next round.
