The game in Maracaibo was also quite interesting. Cocodrilos (4-0) played at the court of Gaiteros (0-2). Cocodrilos defeated Gaiteros 77-66 on Saturday. Cocodrilos forced 20 Gaiteros turnovers. Gaiteros were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American center Maurice Sutton (211-89, college: Villanova) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Dominican Juan-Miguel Suero (196-93) produced 18 points and American forward Al Thornton (203-83, college: Florida St.) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cocodrilos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Panteras.
