Regular Season Round 43: Yamagata - Kagawa FA 77-69

Rather predictable result when third ranked Yamagata (23-18) defeated at home 5th ranked Kagawa FA (11-30) 77-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 39-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Yamagata dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Kagawa FA's 32. It was a great evening for point guard Yuichi Ishikawa (173-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 10 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Shunto Murakami (183-96) helped adding 14 points and 4 assists. Yamagata's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Jamaican power forward Adrian Forbes (211-88, college: Auburn, agency: Haylett Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Yamagata. They maintain third place with 23-18 record having seven points less than leader Gunma. Kagawa FA lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 30 games lost. Yamagata will face again Kagawa FA (#5) in Takamatsu in the next round.
