We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 11th ranked Oviedo (8-13) was outscored by twelfth ranked Azkoitia (7-13) in Azpeitia 83-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. Azkoitia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Oviedo's 32. They outrebounded Oviedo 39-26 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Chloe Wells (173-92, college: Duke) who led her team to a victory with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Intza Lizarazu (171-91) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Azkoitia players scored in double figures. American forward Joy Brown (180-93, college: Iona) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and Raquel Martinez added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Oviedo. Azkoitia maintains twelfth place in Group A with 7-13 record. Loser Oviedo dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Azkoitia will face higher ranked Maquinaria Ensino (#10) in Lugo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
