Regular Season Round 23: Alcazar - Albacete 91-62

Date: March 4, 2017
No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Alcazar (12-11) smashed at home 15th ranked Albacete (5-18) 91-62 on Saturday. The game without a history. Alcazar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Alcazar outrebounded Albacete 44-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Ignacio Diaz (200-87) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Alcazar players scored in double figures. American guard Kris Davis (188-93, college: SIU Edwardsville) produced 17 points and Cuban forward Georvys Elias (199-81) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alcazar moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Albacete lost their eighth game in a row. Albacete at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Alcazar will face higher ranked Cambados (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Albacete will play against Gandia (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
