Regular Season Round 43: Iwate Big Bulls - Kumamoto V. 84-67

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kumamoto V. (31-10) against sixth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (10-31) on Saturday night. Visiting Kumamoto V. was defeated by Iwate Big Bulls in Iwate 84-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kumamoto V.. Kumamoto V. was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Iwate Big Bulls made 32-of-37 free shots (86.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Kumamoto V. outrebounded Iwate Big Bulls 40-26 including 17 on the offensive glass. Kumamoto V. was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Point guard Koji Nagata (180-81) helped adding 12 points. At the losing side American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Ryota Nakanishi (199-88) scored 12 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Iwate Big Bulls maintains sixth place with 10-31 record. Loser Kumamoto V. keeps the third position with ten games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will face again higher ranked Kumamoto V. (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
