Regular Season Round 26: SAP Vaucluse - Rennes 74-87

Everything could happen in Sorgues at the game between two tied teams. Both fifteenth ranked Union Rennes and 16th ranked SAP Vaucluse had identical 10-15 record. But SAP Vaucluse was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Rennes 87-74 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Union Rennes. SAP Vaucluse was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Union Rennes won last quarter 30-18. Union Rennes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to SAP Vaucluse's 30. Senegalese guard El-Kabir Pene (190-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points. American forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Lithuanian forward Darius Tarvydas (200-91) replied with 18 points and Bahamas forward Bennet Davis (206-84, college: Northeastern, agency: Inception Sports) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for SAP Vaucluse. Four Union Rennes and five SAP Vaucluse players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Union Rennes (11-15) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Angers BC and Vitre. SAP Vaucluse lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 16 games lost. Union Rennes will face higher ranked Saint Vallier (#10) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SAP Vaucluse will play against Orchesien BC (#7) in Orchies and hope to win that game.
