Regular Season Round 20: Avenir - Roannais 59-53

Leader Avenir delivered the seventeenth victory. This time they beat 12th ranked Roannais (6-14) 59-53 in Chartres. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Roannais won third quarter 17-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Roannais 43-23 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by point guard Magali Mendy (178-90, agency: Octagon Europe) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Tiffany Clarke (183-91, college: Vanderbilt) supported her with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Even 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by guard Leonore Duchez did not help to save the game for Roannais. Forward Jessica Clemencon (190-89) added 12 points for the guests. Avenir maintains first position with 17-3 record, which they share with Roche. Newly promoted Roannais dropped to the eleventh place with 14 games lost. Avenir's next round opponent will be COB Calais (#5) on the road. Roannais will play against SIG (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
