Regular Season Round 20: Lyon - Nice 49-65

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Lyon (4-16) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Nice (9-11) 65-49 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 65-49. Nice forced 20 Lyon turnovers. Strangely Lyon outrebounded Nice 51-38 including 37 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Marie-Paule Foppossi (184-98) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). International forward Laetitia Kamba (187-87) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Nice's coach Rachid Meziane used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 25 rebounds and the former international center Christelle Diallo (193-93) added 9 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Nice moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hainaut and Nantes. Lyon lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Nice will face Nantes Reze (#8) at home in the next round. Lyon will play against Villeneuve D'Ascq and hope to win that game.
