Regular Season Round 23: Baskonia - Valencia 71-63

Date: March 5, 2017
An interesting game for Baskonia (16-6) which hosted in Vitoria second-ranked Valencia Basket (15-6). Third ranked Baskonia managed to get a 8-point victory 71-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Valencia Basket. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-63. French guard Rodrigue Beaubois (185-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. American point guard Shane Larkin (180-92, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Valencia Basket. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Baskonia have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Valencia Basket at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. They share it with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Baskonia are looking forward to face bottom-ranked La ICL Manresa (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Valencia Basket will play against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
