Regular Season Round 20: Sokhumi - Batumi 75-64

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Batumi's (7-13) road loss to fifth ranked Sokhumi (9-11) 64-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-64. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Oleksandr Tishchenko (205-89) who added 19 points during the contest. Sokhumi's coach Nugzar Cheishvili used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ukrainian forward Igor Krivtsov (201-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Ukrainian point guard Illya Shemosiuk (188-85) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Sokhumi moved-up to fourth place. Loser Batumi keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Mgzavrebi.
