Regular Season Round 19: Battipaglia - Lucca 50-77

Date: March 5, 2017
Seria A1 top team - Lucca (17-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Battipaglia (3-16) 77-50. The game without a history. Lucca led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Battipaglia to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Lucca forced 26 Battipaglia turnovers. It was a great evening for forward Kayla Pedersen (193-89, college: Stanford) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. American-New Zealand guard Jillian Harmon (185-87, college: Stanford) helped adding 18 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side center Olbis Andre (188-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA, agency: Two Points) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lucca maintains first place with 17-2 record. Battipaglia lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Lucca will play against Familia Schio (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Battipaglia will play against La Spezia (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
