Regular Season Round 21: PeU-Basket - JyWe 71-90

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked PeU-Basket (7-17) was outleveled by twelfth ranked JyWe (6-18) in Pernio 90-71 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. JyWe dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to PeU-Basket's 22. They outrebounded PeU-Basket 47-34 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Russian power forward Alexei Ekimov (210-81) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds. Guard Aleksi Kantonen (188-95) contributed with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. JyWe's coach Ville Karjalainen used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Jesse Virtanen (188-95) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and guard Miro Patrakka (182-97) added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for PeU-Basket. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted JyWe maintains twelfth place in Division with 6-18 record. Loser PeU-Basket dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
