Regular Season Round 44: Cyberdyne IR - Bambitious Nara 102-76

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Tsukuba where one of their biggest challengers Bambitious Nara (15-27) was crushed by fifth ranked Cyberdyne IR (17-25) 102-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Cyberdyne IR. Bambitious Nara was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cyberdyne IR made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Cyberdyne IR outrebounded Bambitious Nara 44-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Cyberdyne IR looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Cyberdyne IR players scored in double figures. Guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) produced 17 points and 5 assists and American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cyberdyne IR moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Aomori Watts. Bambitious Nara lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 27 games lost. Cyberdyne IR will face higher ranked Tokyo Z (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Bambitious Nara will play against Orange Vikings and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
