Regular Season Round 44: Fukushima - Toyotsu FE 77-93

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Fukushima. First ranked Toyotsu FE faced second-ranked Fukushima. Guests from Nagoya (31-11) defeated host Fukushima (25-17) 93-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fukushima. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Toyotsu FE's pressure prevailed and they won that period 27-16 extending their advantage to 16 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 36. Nigerian center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 21 rebounds. Forward Shohei Kozu (191-87) contributed with 24 points for the winners. American forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) replied with 23 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Fukushima. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Fukushima's coach Tomohiro Moriyama rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Toyotsu FE maintains first position with 31-11 record. Fukushima at the other side keeps the second place with 17 games lost. Toyotsu FE will play against Yamagata (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Fukushima will play against Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
