Regular Season Round 22: Menorca - Arenys 81-82

There was an upset in Mahon where higher ranked Menorca (12-7) was edged by eighth ranked Arenys (10-9) 82-81 on Sunday. Arenys had a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Bahamas power forward Christopher Turnquest (203-83, college: Miles CC) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Aritz Tomas (186-86) chipped in 23 points during the contest. Arenys' coach Cesar Saura used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side forward Jesus Vargas (193-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and forward Ismael Fernandez (190-93) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Menorca players scored in double figures. Arenys moved-up to sixth place in Group C-A, which they share with Cornella and Castellbisbal. Newly promoted Menorca keeps the third position with seven games lost. Arenys will face Olivar (#9) in Zaragoza in the next round. Menorca will play on the road against AEC Collblanc (#5) in L´Hospitalet and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
