Regular Season Round 16: Tokyo HT - Aisin AW 97-65

Date: March 5, 2017
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Aisin AW (13-17) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Tokyo HT (17-11) 97-65 on Sunday. Tokyo HT outrebounded Aisin AW 46-27 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Tokyo HT especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Brian Harper (208-85, college: Paine) who added 9 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Four Tokyo HT players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Kyouhei Kumazawa (180-88) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Fujita Shunsuke (187-93) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tokyo HT maintains fourth position with 17-11 record. Loser Aisin AW dropped to the fifth place with 17 games lost. Tokyo HT will face Toyoda Gosei (#8) in Aichi in the next round.
