Regular Season Round 43: SeaHorses - Hitachi SR 66-87

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kariya. Leader host Aishin Sea Horses (31-10) were smashed by third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (20-21) 87-66. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Aishin Sea Horses managed to win fourth quarter 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hitachi Sunrockers made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) fired 25 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. International forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) added 9 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains third place with 20-21 record having fifteen points less than leader Tochigi Brex, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. Loser Aishin Sea Horses still keep top position with ten games lost. They share it with Toyota Alvark. Hitachi Sunrockers will meet Akita Happinets (#5) on the road in the next round. Aishin Sea Horses will play against Sendai 89ers (#6) and hope to secure a win.
