Regular Season Round 14: Homenetmen - Mayrouba 96-77

Leader Homenetmen delivered the thirteenth victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Mayrouba (3-11) 96-77 in Beirut. The game was mostly controlled by Homenetmen. Mayrouba was better in fourth quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Homenetmen forced 19 Mayrouba turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Homenetmen brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The former international swingman Fadi El-Khatib (198-79) orchestrated the victory by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American forward Dewayne Jackson (203-90, college: Morgan St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Four Homenetmen players scored in double figures. American forward Emmanuel Jones (200-85, college: UTRGV) replied with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Australian swingman Thomas Ammar (199-87, college: Mars Hill) added 12 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Mayrouba. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Homenetmen (13-1) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Mayrouba lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Hoops. Homenetmen will play against Byblos (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mayrouba will play against Champville (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
