Regular Season Round 17: Panathinaikos - Olympiacos 59-69

An interesting game for Olympiacos (17-0) which played road game in Athens against second-ranked Panathinaikos (12-5). Leader Olympiacos managed to get a 10-point victory 69-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Panathinaikos. They outrebounded Panathinaikos 47-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. American forward Lykendra Johnson (185-89, college: Michigan St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Bosnian-American center Lynetta Kizer (193-90, college: Maryland) chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds. Olympiacos' coach Eleni Kapogianni used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Corin Adams (174-88, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The victory was the seventeenth consecutive win for Olympiacos. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-0 record. Panathinaikos at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Olympiacos will play against Panionios (#9) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panathinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Dafni Agioy.
