Regular Season Round 22: Gipuzkoa UPV - Zamarat 72-66

There was no surprise in San Sebastian where 12th ranked Zamarat (6-16) was defeated by ninth ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (10-12) 72-66 on Sunday. Zamarat trailed by 15 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 23-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 66-72 at the end of the game. Kenyan-Canadian power forward Adut Bulgak (193-92, college: Florida St.) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Brazilian center Nadia Colhado (193-89) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Montenegrin center Ana Turcinovic-Pocek (190-93) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Czech point guard Katerina Bartonova (174-90) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Four Zamarat players scored in double figures. Gipuzkoa UPV moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Mann Filter. Zamarat lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Gipuzkoa UPV will meet CREF Hola (#13) in the next round where they are favorite. Zamarat will play against Mann Filter and hope to secure a win.
