Date: March 5, 2017
The game between Top Four teams took place in Chalon. 3rd placed host Chalon/Saor (15-6) lost to first ranked Monaco (19-2) 82-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chalon/Saor. The game was mostly controlled by Monaco. Chalon/Saor managed to win fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Monaco looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-Bosnian guard Zack Wright (191-85, college: Central Mo.) stepped up and scored 11 points and 9 assists for the winners and American Jamal Shuler (191-86) chipped in 12 points. Monaco's coach Zvezdan Mitrovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was center Moustapha Fall (218-92) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and American point guard John Roberson (180-88, college: Texas Tech) scored 21 points and 4 assists (went 16 for 16 at the free throw line !!!). Monaco have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-2 record. Chalon/Saor at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Nanterre. Monaco are looking forward to face JSF Nanterre (#4) on the road in the next round. Chalon/Saor will play against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
