Second Stage Round 4: Chemidor - Petrochimi 86-89

Important game to mention about took place in Tehran. First ranked Petrochimi (3-1) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Chemidor (1-2) 89-86 on Monday evening. Chemidor was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 54-46 second half run of Petrochimi. Chemidor was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Gerald Robinson (185-89, college: Georgia) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import swingman James White (201-82, college: Cincinnati, agency: Three Eye Sports) contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Petrochimi's coach Mehran Shahintab allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Daequan Cook (195-87, college: Ohio St.) replied with 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Chemidor. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first position in Group 2 with 3-1 record, which they share with Naft Abadan. Chemidor at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Petrochimi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chemidor will play again on the road against the league's leader Petrochimi (#1) in Bandar Imam to get more than just one victory in their record.
