Regular Season Round 3: Panteras - Cocodrilos 79-80

Fifth-ranked Panteras (0-4) used its home court advantage to challenge Cocodrilos (6-0) in Caracas. The visitors managed to secure only one-point victory 80-79. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for American forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import center Maurice Sutton (211-89, college: Villanova) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. Cocodrilos' coach Nestor Salazar allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) with 25 points and 7 rebounds and the former international power forward Luis Julio (201-80) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Cocodrilos will play against Toros (#5) in Maracay in the next round. Panteras will play on the road against Gaiteros in Maracaibo and hope to get finally their first victory.
