Regular Season Round 24: L.Sorocaba - Pinheiros 64-63

Important game to mention about took place in Sorocabana. Fourteenth ranked Liga Sorocaba (5-18) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Pinheiros (13-10) 64-63 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pinheiros. Liga Sorocaba made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Pinheiros 43-32 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for guard Rafael Castellon (192-85) who saved his team from a defeat with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Alexandre de-Souza (202-92) contributed with 4 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Guard Arlindo Neto (187-86) replied with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) added 7 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Pinheiros. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Liga Sorocaba moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Caxias do Sul. Pinheiros at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Liga Sorocaba will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pinheiros' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paolo to the arena Paulistano.
