Second Stage Round 7: Latvija U16 - Rapla KK 52-82

Very expected game in Riga where 10th ranked Latvija U16 (2-7) was crushed by leader Rapla KK (9-0) 82-52 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Rapla KK. Latvija U16 was better in second period 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rapla KK dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Latvija U16's 36. Rapla KK forced 32 Latvija U16 turnovers. It was a great evening for Dutch point guard Francisca Petronelia-Donders (175-89, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 11 points, 7 assists and 7 steals. Estonian power forward Annika Koster (182-92) helped adding 14 points and 5 steals. Five Rapla KK players scored in double figures. Rapla KK had such big advantage that coach Howard Frier felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side forward Laura Meldere (180-1) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and Flera Vinerte (180-1) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Rapla KK. They maintain fifth place with 9-0 record. Latvija U16 lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Rapla KK will have a break next round. Latvija U16 will play on the road against TTT Juniores (#7) in Riga and hope to win that game.
