Regular Season Round 16: Al Riyadi - Moutahed 86-77

An interesting game for Al Riyadi (13-3) which hosted in Beirut 4th ranked Al Moutahed (9-7). Second ranked Al Riyadi managed to get a 9-point victory 86-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Moutahed. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Al Moutahed won third quarter 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Al Riyadi forced 20 Al Moutahed turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Mohamad Haidar (201-90, college: Michigan Tech) who added 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Cleveland Melvin (203-91, college: De Paul) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Dewarick Spencer (192-82, college: Arkansas St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Al Moutahed players scored in double figures. Al Riyadi have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 13-3 record having just two points less than leader Homenetmen. Al Moutahed at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Al Riyadi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Homenetmen.
