Regular Season Round 44: Tochigi Brex - Niigata Albirex 89-70

Not a big story in a game when 4th ranked Niigata Albirex (19-23) was outplayed on the road by first ranked Tochigi Brex (33-9) 89-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Niigata Albirex was better in fourth quarter 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata Albirex's 38. They outrebounded Niigata Albirex 40-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tochigi Brex made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. The other American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Tochigi Brex's coach Thomas Wisman let to play all 12 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Tochigi Brex maintains first position with 33-9 record. Niigata Albirex lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 23 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face again Niigata Albirex (#4) at home in the next round.
