Very predictable result when third ranked Orvieto (15-5) smashed at home 14th ranked Alghero (1-20) 73-51 on Saturday. The game without a history. Orvieto led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Orvieto forced 19 Alghero turnovers. Guard Greta Brunelli (176-90) stepped up and scored 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and guard Valentina Bonasia (164-94) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Orvieto players scored in double figures. Coach Massimo Romano's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was center Alexandra Petrova (185-97) with 9 points and 10 rebounds and Bulgarian point guard Iva Georgieva (170-96, college: Salt Lake CC) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Orvieto maintains third place in A2 with 15-5 record having five points less than leader Sesto SG. Newly promoted Alghero keeps the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Orvieto will face Virtus Cagliari (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alghero will play against Scrivia (#7) and hope to win that game.
