Regular Season Round 23: Gernika - Cadi La Seu 69-71

The most exciting game of round 23 in the LFB took place in Gernika. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd placed Gernika (15-8) to seventh ranked Cadi La Seu (12-11) 71-69 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gernika. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gernika won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Cadi La Seu won last quarter 20-19. Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. International Belen Arrojo (188-95) contributed with 17 points for the winners. The former international power forward Maria Pina (187-87) answered with 21 points and Argentinian power forward Victoria Llorente (184-96) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Gernika. Gernika's coach Mario Lopez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cadi La Seu have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Campus Promete. Gernika at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Cadi La Seu is looking forward to face Campus Promete (#6) in Logrono in the next round. Gernika will play on the road against Gipuzkoa UPV in San Sebastian and is hoping to win this game.
