Regular Season Round 21: Pordenone - Salerno 59-43
Date: March 11, 2017
Rather predictable result when eleventh ranked Pordenone (4-15) defeated at home 13th ranked Salerno (2-16) 59-43 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Pordenone. Salerno was better in third quarter 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Salerno to just 7 points in second quarter. Israeli Elena Castello (182-98) stepped up and scored 9 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Latvian power forward Aleksa Gulbe (184-0) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. Pordenone's coach Renato Nani used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was point guard Arianna Meschi (165-97) with 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Martina Zolfanelli (172-98) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Pordenone maintains eleventh place in A2 with 4-15 record. Loser Salerno keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Pordenone will face higher ranked Castellammare (#10) in Stabia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Salerno will play on the road against Udine Delser and hope to win that game.
