Regular Season Round 24: Zaragoza - Obradoiro 85-59
Date: March 11, 2017
Rather predictable result when thirteenth ranked Zaragoza (8-15) smashed at home 16th ranked Blusens Monbus (6-16) 85-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Zaragoza. Blusens Monbus was better in second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zaragoza shot 24 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Blusens Monbus only scored five points from the stripe. Blusens Monbus was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of German forward Robin Benzing (208-89) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Zaragoza players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Mickey McConnell (182-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) with 10 points and 7 assists and Ukrainian center Artem Pustovyi (218-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Blusens Monbus' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Zaragoza moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with UCAM Murcia. Loser Blusens Monbus keeps the sixteenth position with 16 games lost. Zaragoza will face higher ranked Andorra (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Blusens Monbus will play against the league's second-placed Real Madrid (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
