Regular Season Round 44: SeaHorses - Sendai 89ers 70-55

There was no surprise in Kariya where 6th ranked Sendai 89ers (11-31) were defeated by first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (32-10) 70-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Sendai 89ers was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sendai 89ers to just 3 points in first quarter. The best player for the winners was American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) who scored 6 points and 21 rebounds. The other American import power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale) produced 9 points and 13 rebounds and South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first position with 32-10 record. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with 31 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face again Sendai 89ers (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
