Regular Season Round 21: Irakleio - Psychiko 73-72

Important game to mention about took place in Irakleio. Fifteenth ranked Irakleio (5-15) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Psychiko (11-10) 73-72 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Psychiko. Psychiko was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Ioannis Lianos (202-85) who saved his team from a defeat with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Themis Koupidis (198-84) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Croatian guard Sven Smajlagic (195-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and forward Vasileios Mouratos (193-97) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Psychiko. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Psychiko's coach Nikos Remendelas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Irakleio moved-up to fourteenth place. Psychiko at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Ethnikos. Irakleio will play against bottom-ranked Pagrati (#16) in Athens in the next round. Psychiko will play at home against the league's second-placed Iraklis (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
