Regular Season Round 23: USE Basket - San Miniato 66-83

Very important is a home loss of third ranked USE Basket (13-9) against sixth ranked San Miniato (13-10) on Saturday night. Host USE Basket was defeated by San Miniato in Empoli 83-66. USE Basket was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Francesco Stefanelli (190-95) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Gabriele Giarelli (197-93, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 21 points. Four San Miniato players scored in double figures. Power forward Michele Bei (200-90) responded with 27 points and forward Andrea Marusic (200-89) scored 5 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. San Miniato moved-up to fifth place in B. Loser USE Basket dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. San Miniato will face Cecina (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. USE Basket will play against Siena Virtus (#11) and hope to win that game.
