Regular Season Round 27: PeKa - HyPo 68-81

An interesting game for HyPo (23-3) which played road game in Kotka against 4th placed Peli-Karhut (13-12). First ranked HyPo managed to get a 13-point victory 81-68. The game was mostly controlled by HyPo. Peli-Karhut managed to win second period 26-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Bria Goss (178-92, college: Kentucky) accounted for 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. American forward Akilah Sims (178-94, college: IUPUI) came up with 23 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Amanda Lassiter (186-79, college: Missouri) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Peli-Karhut in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. HyPo have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 23-3 record. Loser Peli-Karhut keeps the fourth position with 12 games lost. HyPo will meet bottom-ranked Helmi Basket (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Peli-Karhut will play against Aanekosken (#9) in Aanekoski and hope to secure a win.
