The game in Akita was also quite interesting. Third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (22-21) played at the court of 5th ranked Akita Happinets (11-32). Hitachi Sunrockers did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 82-65 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back winning next two quarters and won the game by 17 points. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated on the defensive end, holding Akita Happinets to just 5 points in second quarter. Akita Happinets were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Seiya Ando (184-92) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ryosuke Shirahama (190-91) added 17 points in the effort for Akita Happinets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Nagoya DD. Akita Happinets lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 32 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Toyota Alvark.
