Regular Season Round 23: Valdiceppo - Giulianova 81-44

There was an upset in Perugia where higher ranked Giulianova (8-14) was crushed by fifteenth ranked Valdiceppo (6-16) 81-44 on Sunday. Valdiceppo dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Giulianova's 22. Valdiceppo forced 21 Giulianova turnovers. It was a great evening for Umberto Meschini (190-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized Czech guard Filippo Meccoli-Matejca (194-92) helped adding 16 points. Swingman Simone De-Angelis (201-86) responded with 14 points and point guard Simone Colonnelli (185-91) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valdiceppo moved-up to fourteenth place in B. Loser Giulianova dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Valdiceppo will face Monteroni (#16) on the road in the next round.
