Regular Season Round 22: Maccabi T-A - Maccabi Rishon 83-81

Eighth-ranked Maccabi Rishon (10-12) gave a tough game to first ranked Maccabi T-A (16-6) in Tel-Aviv on Sunday. Maccabi T-A managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 25-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi T-A made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game, while Maccabi Rishon only scored four points from the stripe. American forward Victor Rudd (205-91, college: S.Florida) scored 25 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Guinea-Bissau-American center Colton Iverson (212-89, college: Colorado St., agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Maccabi T-A's coach Ainars Bagatskis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American-Belarusian point guard Maalik Wayns (185-91, college: Villanova) responded with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and American power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A maintains first position with 16-6 record. Maccabi Rishon lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Galil Gilboa and Ironi Nahariya.
