There was no surprise when 9th ranked Tokyo Big Blue (3-27) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Saitama Broncos (12-18) 90-55 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was American forward Tiras Wade (200-81, college: La-Lafayette) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Brent Jennings (193-88, college: So.Poly State, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jennings is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Naturalized American forward Ken Tanaka (188-81, college: Whittier) produced 6 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Yoshikawa Osamuakira (182-92) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Saitama Broncos maintains seventh place with 12-18 record. Tokyo Big Blue lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. Saitama Broncos will face higher ranked Tokyo HT (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tokyo Big Blue will play against the league's second-placed Fukuoka Rizing (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
