Regular Season Round 46: Toyotsu FE - Yamagata 74-71

Third-ranked Yamagata (23-21) gave a tough game to first ranked Toyotsu FE (33-11) in Nagoya on Sunday. Toyotsu FE managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected easier game. Yamagata trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 26-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-74 at the end of the game. Toyotsu FE made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Nigerian center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Kohei Fukuzawa (177-93) chipped in 25 points during the contest. At the losing side point guard Yuichi Ishikawa (173-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds and American center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Toyotsu FE and five Yamagata players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toyotsu FE have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 33-11 record. Yamagata lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with 21 games lost. They share the position with Ehime OV. Toyotsu FE are looking forward to face league's second-placed Nishinomiya S. in Hyogo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yamagata will play at home against Aomori Watts and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
