Regular Season Round 23: Isernia - San Severo 44-88

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Isernia (7-15) was outplayed at home by third ranked San Severo (17-6) 88-44 on Sunday. San Severo held Isernia to an opponent 19.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 63.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Isernia 34-22 including a 29-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Severo shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 70.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for forward Iris Ikangi (200-94, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Mauro Torresi-Lelli (189-84, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 18 points. Four San Severo players scored in double figures. San Severo's coach Piero Coen felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Ferdinando Smorra (184-88) responded with 13 points and 4 assists and naturalized Albanian power forward Klaudio Patani (197-96) scored 12 points. San Severo maintains third place in B with 17-6 record having just one point less than leader Montegrano, which they share with Cento and Piacenza. Loser Isernia keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. San Severo will face league's leader Montegrano in Montenegrano in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Isernia will play on the road against Pescara (#5) and hope to win that game.
