Regular Season Round 45: Toyama Grouses - Nagoya DD 80-70

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Diamond Dolphins (22-21) against sixth ranked Toyama Grouses (10-33) on Sunday night. Visiting Diamond Dolphins were defeated by Toyama Grouses in Toyama 80-70. They made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Diamond Dolphins were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American Drew Viney (204-88, college: Loyola Mary) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Masashi Joho (183-82) chipped in 22 points. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) with 26 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and international power forward Tenketsu Harimoto (198-92) scored 7 points. Diamond Dolphins' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyama Grouses maintains sixth place with 10-33 record, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Diamond Dolphins at the other side keep the second position with 21 games lost. They share it with Hitachi SR. Toyama Grouses will play against league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Dolphins will play at home against Akita Happinets and hope to get back on the winning track.
