Regular Season Round 26: Mogi - Campo Mourao 74-71

Eighth-ranked Campo Mourao (13-12) gave a tough game to third ranked Mogi (17-8) in Mogi das Cruzes on Monday. Mogi managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Mogi made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Four Mogi players scored in double figures. Guard Caue Freitas (192-88) responded with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and American guard Isaac Thornton (190-91, college: Fairmont St.) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mogi have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 17-8 record having just two point less than leader Flamengo. Campo Mourao at the other side keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Mogi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Campo Mourao will play at home against Pinheiros (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
