Regular Season Round 21: AEK Athens - Olympiacos 63-70
Date: March 13, 2017
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Athens: Olympiacos (#2) and AEK Athens (#3). AEK Athens was defeated at home 63-70 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AEK Athens. AEK Athens was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 35-26 second half run of Olympiacos. American-Belgian guard Matt Lojeski (198-85, college: Hawaii, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up and scored 17 points for the winners and the former international Georgios Printezis (204-85, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Georgian guard Michael Dixon (186-90, college: Memphis, agency: Diamond Sports) with 14 points and Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olympiacos (20-1) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion (20-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Panathinaikos. AEK Athens at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost.
